Cho Byong-Hee

Abstract
While medical sociology has developed on the basis of sociological theory in Western countries, it has been developed as the sociology in medicine in Korea. This paper aims at reviewing the articles published by Health and Social Science, and identifying the characteristics and the trends of those articles. In the area of social epidemiology, articles usually dealt with job stress, elderly health, and mental health, but not with the topics physical health or patient groups. In terms of health behavior, it was found that health habits and health care utilizations were the popular topics. But the topics were usually limited to a few subjects such as smoking, drinking, and health inequalities. The articles focusing on doctors and patients were very few. In terms of the institution and policy, the most popular topic was health insurance. However, social relations immanent in health insurance policies were not discussed. In the future, research topics should be diversified and theory-oriented research are needed.
